Next published Latvian A2 & B1 exam dates
The next dates shown on VIAA’s city schedules, with a direct link to each official source. This is not a full-year calendar.
Schedules are published separately by test centre
On 13 October, all five VIAA centres had published their A2 and B1 sittings for October, November and December. Dates can move: Rīga's October A2 was moved from 13 to 20 October. VIAA updates each centre separately, so check the official link beside a date before applying.

Fee
€52, paid no later than 7 working days before your test — working days, not calendar days.
Level required
A2 for a permanent residence permit and for EU long-term resident status. The certificate must have been issued on or after 1 February 2001.
Results
Issued on the 7th working day after the test.
How to register
- 1Choose a test centre and a date from that centre’s published schedule.
- 2Fill in the application form, published by VIAA as a PDF or DOC.
- 3Send it by email with an electronic signature, or by post.

Who may be exempt from the A2 requirement
- You were educated in Latvian in an accredited programme — primary, secondary or higher education.
- You completed a minority education programme and passed the centralised Latvian exam in grade 9 or grade 12.
- You have a health condition or functional limitation that prevents you sitting the test, confirmed by a medical certificate.
- You are under 15 years old.
- You are 75 or older.
