How to register for the Latvian A2 exam: fee, deadlines and centres
Registration for the state language proficiency test is handled by VIAA, and the process is short — but two deadlines catch people out, and both are counted in working days rather than calendar days.
The three steps
- Choose a test centre and a date from that centre’s published schedule.
- Fill in the application form, available from VIAA as a PDF or DOC.
- Send it — by email to vvpp@viaa.gov.lv with an electronic signature, or by post to Vaļņu iela 2, Rīga, LV-1050.
The fee and when it must be paid
The exam fee is €52. It must be paid no later than seven working days before your test — not seven calendar days, which over a public holiday can be a difference of more than a week.
Where the exam is held
Five centres run the test: Rīga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Rēzekne and Ventspils. Each publishes its own schedule and updates it through the year, so there is no single national calendar to check.
Your exact time and room are given to you when you register, not published in advance.
When you get the result
Results are issued on the seventh working day after the test. Plan any application deadline around that, and again note that these are working days.
